If a photo can speak a thousand words this photo is it! I will commend Science Daily for this photo and I have to say this is true reflection of the Mayan community in Tulum. There is a lot of laughter, not only at oneself but at others, there is a lot of smiling, just because. There is an innate sense of humor in the community that if I could speak mayan, I would be laughing right along with them.

What I see in this photo is joy, is love, happiness and fun. This is really how we live, with this type of joy, love, laughter and fun each and every day in Tulum. I don’t know how it happens, and even on the crummiest day when nothing can go right, the result is a joke, a laugh or just sheer joy.

Really this is it, and no more needs to be said about life in Tulum. Whether you are on the beach, in the town of Tulum or in the jungle, laughter can always be heard and people are always having fun. There is only one word in maya that is equivalent to anger, disgust, distraught. I cant count the words for anger in English and other languages have even more than English speaking countries. That to me says it all. If htey dont feel these emotions why do they need multiple words for an emotion that is felt so little.

This is how we keep it real, every single day, every single week, every single evening in Tulum, Mexico.
