The best activity while staying at Casa de las Olas is often doing nothing at all. Enjoy the beach in front, the warm, tropical waters and even nearby fine dining. Just walk a few yards down the private Rancho San Eric road to the sensational Hechizo. There’s no sign. There isn’t even a menu. Instead, every night the owner himself, Stefan Schober, visits each of the nine tables and explains what he’s creating for them from fresh local, seasonal ingredients. Raised in Mexico City, Stefan was trained in Austria and operated culinary Shangri-Las such as the Ritz-Carlton in Singapore. There he met and married Ying-Hui, Hechizo’s pastry chef. Together they moved to Tulum and hand built their own culinary mecca, a few steps down the beach from Casa de las Olas.
