Many of us feel this way, if you are going to do something, do it well! Why waste your time doing something okay, or with mediocrity. Set your goals, research how you will achieve those goals, plan it, do it, and be super excited that you reached if not exceeded those goals.
Crushing your vacation is as important as crushing a sales meeting, crushing your weekend with super cool activities or crushing how you live on a day to day basis.
Crushing it does not mean a jammed packed, activity based, over achieving vacation. Crushing it refers to determining your vacation goals and meeting those goals in teh best possible way.
Crushing it could mean detoxing on a beach, crushing it could mean a quiet getaway with your partner, crushing it just means you do it well and have stories and memories that stay with you for longer than 24 hours.
Every day we crush it at Casa de las Olas and leave our guests with exactly what they want, how ever they define it!
One couple’s crush it vacation – turtle watching
One of our recent guests had one goal in mind, to see a turtle laying eggs on the beach. This was their dream, why they chose Casa de las Olas and Tulum as their vacation destination and they got it, with a whole bunch of extras!
Turtle watching is done at night from 11 pm to 3 am. If you are unaware of the turtle egg laying process, mom’s come out of the ocean, make their way to beach, dig a hole with their feet, lay eggs and then return back to the ocean. Lights and noise can stop a mother turtle in her tracks and ruin the whole process. During the turtle laying season, lights are not allowed on the beach, hotels and villas brief their guests on the precautions they need to take in the evening and for sure not to disturb any nests if they see evidence in the morning of a turtle tracks. Guests are asked to report the turtle tracks so the nest can be marked and protected.
How did this couple crush their vacation? Every night at 11 pm they strolled the beach by the light of the moon. They chose a full moon week so they could see the beach better at night. They say a turtle laying eggs, and watched the process, but they also had a great time strolling the beach every evening spending time together. They allowed themselves to sleep in without any guilt as they were up for a good portion of the night looking for turtles. They have a story that will stick with them forever! As far as they are concerned THEY CRUSHED IT! and we think they did too.
A single woman quietly crushed her vacation
Tired, drained and over worked, a single woman came to Casa de las Olas and crushed her vacation! The blackberry went off, the computer was on for 30 minutes a day, she read 7 books and swam, every day for 7 days. She cleared a very full head and read some interesting books that inspired her. She met some new people, walked the beach, and completely disconnected! For her, she crushed her vacation! She renewed her energy and broke some patterns that she knew were not working for her. Cool thing is, she is coming back again, cool thing is she walks ever day at home without her blackberry for an hour a day. The cool thing is she realized that things are important but she is much more important. Things can wait and the world does not fall apart if she does not answer an email immediately. She discovered the appeal and benefits of me time, something that many of us forget about. We had not idea what her vacation goal was, it was not until she returned to New York that we received an email from her and she wrote a lovely story of how the property gave her, her life back. SHE CRUSHED IT, and we feel honored that our space this for her.
A family crushed their vacation in Tulum
New to Mexico a family of four decided to have a one week vacation in the land of the Mayas, to teach their kids about another culture, Mexican and Mayan food, Mayan ruins and the jungle. This was an activity based vacation, beach, jungle, kayaking (first time for the kids) diving, snorkeling, and whole bunch of eating! The kids had a blast, they learned a ton and the parents had some quiet time on the balcony at CDLO once the kids crashed after a long day. For them, they CRUSHED IT! And we had too much fun listening to the kids and their excitement! This was a family vacation to remember and the intimate stories that were created will last forever.
Define how you would crush you vacation!
What we love about Tulum is the diversity of the area. The biosphere is next door, the Tulum ruins are a bike or drive away, the town of Tulum has some great taco places and cultural activities in the main square that can open you up to the Mayan way of living. The beach is one of the best in the world, the food choices are great for foodies, vegans, or the curious. The ocean can provide you with more entertainment than any movie or book. And all of this is done on a property that is sustainable, that respects where it is situated and does everything it can to preserve this incredible area.
Crushing it could be anything you want it to be, just crush it in Tulum with people who respect your definition of crushing your vacation!
