Sustainable Villa

about villa casa de las olas Sustainable Villa

A Tropical Beach Villa in Tulum, Mexico

For 40 years, Casa de las Olas has been committed to leaving our pristine surroundings the way we found them. From its very conception, the Casa was designed to be sustainable. An innovative roof captures the power of the sun and rain, providing 100% solar electricity and 20,000 liters of rain water for our vegetation and gravity-fed plumbing. The Casa also offers a natural cooling system that passively circulates cool, fresh air throughout the home while forcing hot air out. All our shampoos and soaps are locally produced and biodegradable, as are cleaning products and garbage bags. We have compost and recycling program to reduce waste and feed our plants and have launched a CO2 offset program utilizing large planting areas to help offset the small amount of fuel used by a back-up generator.

Casa de las Olas guests also contribute to our eco-friendly culture by:

. turning off lights when they are not in the room and unplugging any appliances not in use

. using biodegradable products that are labelled safe for the environment

. hanging up and reusing towels until fresh towels are needed

. being careful not to disturb  the sand dunes and surrounding vegetation

With a bit of effort and deep appreciation for Tulum’s lush natural beauty, we can enjoy and preserve this exquisite slice of heaven.
